This wine by Badalucco is coming from Marsala region on the coast West of Sicily. Orange wine, also known as skin-contact-wine is a type of wine made from white wine grapes and the skins of the grapes are left to macerate with the juice, 10 days for the Grillo Verde. (For conventional white wine you take white or red grapes and you quickly separate the skins from the juice). The skins contain colour pigment, phenols and tannins that will give the orange colour and interesting deep flavours to this wine. The Grillo Verde is a deep and powerful wine with still a good acidity and freshness; it goes very well with mackerels, anchovies and cheese.
